Navigating M2Assistant

M2Assistant has four main features; plotting and editing an EMME/2 network, displaying and editing matrices, charts, and editing text files that are specific to EMME/2 (such as macros and transcripts).

The M2Assistant main menu and the main toolbar are at the top of the screen. You may also customize each of the menus and the toolbuttons by clicking the small arrow at the right side of the toolbar.

On the left side of the program window is the M2Assistant Bar. The bar has four groups (General, Network, Matrices and Chart) and within each group, a number of selections. The groups are only active if an EMME/2 database has been selected. You may also choose to use the toolbuttons of the main toolbar to navigate to these groups.

The active scenarios of the EMME/2 database are shown as a set of tabs. Information about each scenario is displayed as you move the mouse over the tab, and the scenario becomes the active scenario if you click the tab.

Also, M2Assistant makes extensive use of hints for each menu option, tool button and edit field. Just move the mouse over any part of the screen to display a hint with additional information. The context menu (click the right-mouse button to display a menu) is also used extensively throughout M2Assistant.

At the bottom of the screen is the status bar, which displays hints and information about each part of the screen as you move the mouse. There is also a menu button, called Settings, by which you can set a variety of menu options. The Protect check box at the bottom of the screen enables you to protect the EMME/2 database from any changes. If this check box is set, then you cannot change any part of the database. If it is not set, then you are allowed to edit the network.  Three additional checkboxes, labelled M, D, and E are used to protect the scenarios...similar to the EMME/2 scenario protection flags. If M is checked, then you may not modify the scenario. If D is checked, you may not delete the scenario. And if E is checked, you may not run any EMME/2 modules on the scenario.
