Creating or Copying EMME/2 Databases
With M2Assistant, you may create an entirely new EMME/2 database or copy the contents of the currently opened database to a new one and even increase the dimensions as you do so. To create a new database, choose the File|New Database... menu option. To copy a database, first open the database and then choose this menu option. The following dialog is displayed.

First, you must choose the folder for the new EMME/2 database. This can be either an existing folder or a new one that will be created. This folder may not already contain an EMME/2 database.
Enter a title for the new database and then specify each of the dimension parameters. You may create a database of any size but keep in mind the limitations of your EMME/2 licence. It may be a good idea to enter the licence size (1 to 24) as this will limit the maximum dimensions to those permitted by your EMME/2 licence. Click the Maximum Dimensions button to set the relevant parameters to the maximum permitted by the selected licence size.
If you are copying a database, you may increase any of the dimensions. To reset the dimensions to those of the currently opened database, click the Current Dimensions button. You are not permitted to make a copy if you decrease any of the dimensions with the exception of the extra attribute table. For this parameter, you may reduce or increase the size of the table. M2Assistant will provide an information message if the extra attribute table size is too low in order to copy all of the defined extra attributes. You may also choose to increase the number of centroids but keep in mind that you must also increase the number of nodes by the same amount. For example, if you add 100 centroids to the database, you must also add 100 nodes at the same time.
Once you are satisfied with the dimensions, click the Create button to create a new, empty database or click the Copy button to make a copy. A new database will have one scenario that you can then renumber and rename. A copy of a database will have exactly the same information as the original database but, optionally, with an increase in the number of scenarios or other dimensions. You may press ESC to cancel creating the new database.
Note that when you make a copy of a database, the original will remain intact. You should therefore ensure that there is enough disk space on your computer to create or copy a database.
