Macros, transcripts and text files
An unlimited number of text files can be opened using a powerful text editor included with the M2Assistant.
Use the File|Open Text menu command to open a text file. If the selected text file has a macro extension (typically .mac or .mcr for EMME/2 macro files), then the macro file is displayed with syntax highlighting. Similarly, if the selected text file has a transcript extension (such as .in), then the transcript file is displayed with syntax highlighting. Use the Preferences form to specify the file extensions associated with EMME/2 macro files and transcript files.
In the following example, many macro files are opened. Note that the icon of one the macro files is red. This indicates that the text has changed but the changes have not been saved as yet. Select the File|Save menu command to save this file. Or, use the File|Close Editor menu command to close the currently visible text file. You will be prompted to save any changes before a file is closed.

Choose the Edit|Find or Edit|Replace menu commands to find text or perform search and replace functions. Or, select the Edit|Editor Preferences menu command to set your own preferences for how a text file is to be displayed.
You can set up to 10 bookmarks for any text file and then quickly jump back to the bookmark. To set a bookmark, press Ctrl-Shift-1 (or any of the number keys from 0 to 9). To jump back to this bookmark, press Ctrl-1.
You may also select a section of text either as a stream or as a block. A streamed selection is more common; just click and drag to highlight a selection. A block selection is done by holding the Alt key while you click and drag to highlight a block of text.
